Creata nel 1988 da Cordell Barker, questa animazione si ispira ad una famosa canzone folk americana in cui Mr. Johnson cerca sempre più spasmodiscamente, e senza alcun successo, di liberarsi di un piccolo gatto giallo.
La canzone fu scritta nel 1893 da Harry S. Miller. Il cortometraggio è stato nominato agli Oscar e ha vinto il Genie Award nel 1989.
